1.1 Information you provide directly

• Account information: email address, display name, and password (stored hashed)
• Profile information: age, biological sex, height, weight, and goal weight (used to calculate calorie targets)
• Nutrition logs: food entries, photos of meals, and macro/micronutrient data you log
• Diet preferences: selected diet presets, custom macro targets, and food restrictions
• Payment information: processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Device information: device type, operating system, and app version
• Usage data: features used, session duration, and general interaction patterns
• Crash reports: anonymized technical data when the app encounters an error

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide the core Tally service (calorie tracking, macro calculations, Dietary coaching)
• Personalize your experience based on your goals and diet preferences
• Power the Mira Dietary coach with context about your nutrition history
• Send transactional emails (receipts, account alerts, trial reminders)
• Improve the photo recognition model and food database (using anonymized, aggregated data only)
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your individual health data to train AI models sold to third parties, serve targeted ads, or profile you for marketing without your explicit consent.

3. Photo Data and AI Processing

When you use the photo scanning feature, images are temporarily transmitted to our servers for meal recognition processing. After the calorie estimate is returned to your device:

• Photos are deleted from our servers within 24 hours unless you explicitly save them to your food log
• Photos saved to your log are stored encrypted and deleted when you delete the log entry or your account
• Photos are never used to identify you biometrically

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Stripe: Payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
• Cloud infrastructure providers: Hosting and data storage (under strict data processing agreements)
• AI service providers: For photo recognition and Dietary coaching (data is anonymized where possible)
• Legal authorities: When required by law or to protect safety

5. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard measures:

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text
• Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel
• We conduct regular security reviews

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal data
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from within the app or by contacting us
• Portability: Export your nutrition log as CSV or JSON
• Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential communications at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Tally is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries. By using Tally, you consent to this transfer. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international transfers of personal data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notification at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of Tally after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
